Installation of ACT Timbers
ACT Timbers can be nailed, sawed, drilled and routed using standard wood working tools. In addition, ACT is free of knots and grain which allows for easy hammering, drilling and clean cuts. ACT can be used with standard connection hardware such as bolts, nuts, washers and tie rods. In most instances, it is recommend that quality stainless hardware be used, particularly in highly corrosive, marine environments.
ACT also offers a tongue and groove product ideally suited for seawall applications. ACT sheetpile is designed with sufficient strength to be driven with conventional impact/drop hammers, vibratory hammers or jetted into place. The tongue and groove is available in either dimensional 2" or 3" widths and 10" across, making it suitable for a variety of installations.
Because ACT offers consistent color throughout, a conventional sander can be used to remove surface gouges or scratches once the installation is complete. ACT can also be buffed to cover simple surface abrasions.
Maintaining ACT is easy. ACT does not creep or corrode and absorbs very little moisture, therefore sealing and/or painting is never required. For preserving ACT's original finish, simply clean the lumber with soap and water. For graffiti stains, we recommend using a conventional all-purpose cleaner.
